I would be totally shocked and disappointed if Dierks ever eliminated a Steel from his touring band.

The Steel is way to dominant in his tunes to try to cover it with a Keyboard or perhaps not at all. It would be nuts..

It would be like Waylon without Mooney or the Hag without Norm Hamlet.

Got a Lot of Leavin' without a Steel ?

I guess it would be possible but I suspect not probable...

Chris are you playing the Casino? My grandaughter (the wedding we went too last year) lives up the street. They will be about five of them showing up. I told them to say hi to you.

Gary Morse just finished doing some cuts on Dierks new album, so it looks like steel guitar will definately live on with Dierks. Besides that, Dierks genuinely loves steel guitar, and that makes it even better!

I have seen a number of photos of Dierks sporting a "Sho-Bud" tee shirt.

I think you only find those on steel players and fans thereof.

Dierks was wearing the Sho-Bud t-shirt at the 2004 music video awards show on CMT. Last year, at the CMA Awards show, Dierks thanked all of the guys in his band, including Tim Sergent. Dierks is definitely a fan of the steel guitar because every time he performs live and there's a steel part, Dierks goes over to the steel and listens closely to the solo. Hey, Chris,
I'll be up there with Dierks so look me up. We will probably see each other at sound check or maybe earlier in catering. If there's a coffee pot around I'll be somewhere real close by. Looking forward to hearing you guys play.

Ken,
Good to see your name on here again. I remember you and your family well. If you ever go back to that arena we played...listen real close...you can probably still hear the last couple of notes of our show!! Just a "little bit" of slap back in there. If we're ever in your neck of the woods again holler at me on the Forum and we'll get together again....that's a song isn't it??? Just kidding. You're right about one thing...I'm very approachable. I'm always the one standing out by the bus talking and meeting new people. Chances are, if that bus is not rolling down the highway then I'm not on it. I'm on there enough as it is. So if it's stopped...I'm off of there!

Hey, Brett,
How ya doin'? Are you still pickin' the the fire out of your Emmons or are you playing your GFI more these days? You're such a wealth of information about the steel guitar and who all plays them...if I ever need to know anything, I'm gonna call you!! I think we might be heading over your way before too long. We're heading everywhere else it looks like so I'm sure we'll be heading to S.C. or maybe somewhere close by. Let me know if you'd like to come to a show.

Take care,

Tim

Tim, I'm pickin' the fire out of my GFI a lot now. I still got the Emmons, but the GFI is my main guitar. I've played along with some Dierks songs on it too. I haven't really played the Emmons since I bought the GFI. The GFI is a pro model steel while the Emmons is a student model. I'm playing the GFI at steel shows and at home and it's the best guitar I've ever played. I've played along with "Gonna Get There Someday" by Dierks and I've been experimenting with "Lotta Leavin' Left To Do" and "Come A Little Closer". Brett, Emmons S-10, Morrell lapsteel, GFI Ultra D-10

That's very true Mark. In fact, I gave Dierks that Sho-Bud tee shirt that he's been wearing now and then.

I'm looking forward to meeting Tim next time they get up this way for a show.

Well, I met Tim on Saturday. I got to hear their sound check on Sat afternoon. What a great show Dierks and the band put on. And Dierks was right up there next to the steel watching the steel ride. Real cool.

If you guys really want to see Tim, and see the steel for yourself, tune into CMT tonight (7-18-06) and look for SummerFest featuring Dierks Bentley, it is an hour long show of their concert in Milwaukee, it is awesome.

Tim, you did an outstanding job, made me very proud. Keep it up buddy, see you soon.
