You've got a new steel and you're torn between wanting to show it off in public and fear that someone might ask you questions about all those new knee levers that you can't answer. Image

You tune from a list of numbers taped to the fretboard of the back neck.

Ahh, shucks!!! I guess you could play that lick with the B pedal. You would really be a hack if you heard the pitch change on those strings (other that cabinet drop).

Your only instrumental is Steel Guitar Rag, and you can only play one verse.

Your guitar is an ash-tray Maverick you got on e-Bay for a cool thousand.

But, seriously, guys, I've checked my hack credentials against this list, and can't find a thing you've missed. Image

Usin' a pair of channel locks, a 3/8" drive extension, a 3/8" x 1/8" drive adapter, and a 1/8" drive deepwell socket to adjust the tuning nuts 'cause the tuning wrench rolled away somewhere never to be seen again...

Kinda reminds me when I stopped in at the Stagecoach in Fort Worth a couple summers ago. I edged up close to the bandstand and noticed that the steel players C pedal wasn't even hooked up. I dropped some money in the tip jar and asked if he could play Remington Ride or Buds Bounce. He said he couldn't because he had broken his third string three nights earlier and hadn't replaced it yet. Still LMAO.

1a. When you write, dictate, or are the sole source of information for your own bio. Especially if you provide your own pictures.

1b. When you refer to yourself in the third person. Especially when muttering under your breath.

1c. Any mention of how many "dues" you've paid. Especially in an argument.

but, rubber bands do have a better feel than the standard return springs and beer coasters keep the guitar from rocking better than leg adjustments

Dang b0b, you got me pegged!! When I was learnin' the tempered tuning thing in the 70's I had the numbers taped on the back of my steel to tune up to with my trusty ol' Korg tuner (Which I wish I still had)...JH

You describe your knee levers to others as "whammy bars" and then proceed to use them like one.

When the little kid at the wedding party asks you "What is that thing?" and you tell him it's an "Electric Cheese Grater." That's by far my favorite one.
