Steelifying my blues/rock band

Post by Jan Jonsson »

This last year, I have been working hard to get my pedal steel playing integrated in the music of my blues-rock cover band. Then, this fall we recorded a couple of songs illustrating our new style. We also have a new young girl singer contributing to the updated vibe of our band.

On these tracks I play my Sho-Bud Pro II Custom guitar through a home-built Vibroclone amp. I also do some Leslie-sounding rhythm guitar. Hope you like it.

Route 66 (C6 neck)

The Letter (E9 neck)

Barefootin' (C6 & E9 necks)

YES!!!!!

This is EXACTLY the kind of thing more steel players should be doing.

Jan it's players like you who are keeping the steel guitar alive.

Wow! Thanks for all the nice comments. Seems like we're on the right track sound-wise. Guess I can continue spreading the pedal steel gospel some more in my (blues-)conservative little band.

So you ended up with RD's Blue Darlin'?! Cool. I love the organ-style comping with the Leslie effect on Route 66!

Vad COOL!

You're just too kind! I've forwarded your comments to my band members and they send a collective 'Thanks' to all of you.

Now we're in the process of sending demo-CDs all over the country in search of some pedal-steel-promoting gigs.
