Who's going to St. Louis

Post by Nick Reed »

It's getting close guys, and I'm looking forward to this years Steel Guitar convention in St. Louis. We lucked up this year and got a room at the Regal Millenium Hotel. Just wondering how many of you are going this year. I always enjoy meeting some of you while we're there. NR

Nick, If the good Lord's willing and the creek don't rise I'll be there. If everything goes according to plan I will have a couple of other steel players and a terrific singer and piano player. I'll be at the Millenium as well.

thanks

I'll be there for the first time.

I'm still a newbie on the steel and hope that I can pick up a bunch of CDs and instructional material. I'm excited to hear all the great players there. Any idea of the lineup yet? What's the policy on audio taping performances?

Will there be many manufacturers there? I'm looking forward to seeing a bunch of steels up close with an eye towards upgrading from my Carter Starter.

Looking forward to meeting fellow forumites.

I'll be there, too! Usually there is a meeting w/photo taken by he Carter booth sometimes Saturday. Also, at the Carter booth you can get little orange stickers to put on your badge, makes us forumites easily identifiable.

Donna and Tommy, Ann and John always do a great job herding us forumites. Looking forward to seeing you all!

Kind Regards, Walter

I'll be there Saturday and Sunday. I called in my reservations too late this year and I had to get a room at the Marriot two blocks away. Frank, go to Scottys website and there should be a number for the Marriot, I think they will give you a speacial rate if you tell them you are going to the steel convention.

Hey Nick...be there with bells on! It's always a treat and an honor to get to work with Bill Ferguson's crew doing the audio recording and mix for the Steel Radio broadcast. If you're there on Thursday about 4:00PM, stop in and listen to my meager attempts to play this beast we call steel guitar. Looking forward to another great year.

A lot of people have asked me. I won't be there this year. I went the last two years in a row. Things are pretty busy here at home, with the band and work and the Forum. I'm going to sit this one out.

We won't be going either. It's tough for Susie to get around and tough for her to sit. Plus even though there will be great players there, my favorites won't be. Last year was depressing without Jeff, and with the impending news it looks like this year could be the same.

I can't believe it's been a year. We had such a great time last year. I so wish we were going this year but it's not possible. First of all we're broke (nothing new about that) and secondly our daughter Ursula is starting secondary school on August 29 so we'll have to be home to see that her first few days go smoothly.

All of you that are going, have a wonderful time....I don't even need to say that 'cos you can't help having a wonderful time there. Hopefully this year will go by just a fast and I'll be posting in 2006 saying that I'm packing my bags for St Louis.
