The Maurice Anderson CDs are now available

Post by Mike Perlowin RIP »

It took longer that I expected, but they're here. You can buy them from either b0b or Reece. They cost $15 each.

Each of the CDs is about an hour and ten minutes long. Volume one is mostly jazz ans swing, volume 2 (which I prefer personally) is mostly pop, and contains 8 tunes that were never previously released in America.

The material was culled from Reece's "Moods of" series of albums, plus the 2 songs from the live LP from 1979 which he shares with Buddy Emmons, Lloyd Green and Doug Jernigan. the previously unreleasaed material is from a European LP entitled 'Universal Steel Man."

I wish to thank Joe Goldmark for supplying the recordings from which these were dubbed. Most of the credit however goes to our fellow forumite Mike Brebes who painstakingly went over the recordings and pulled out all the little pops and scratches, and generally spent way too much time on this project.

These are (IMHO) 2 of the best steel guitar CDs ever made. At present there are only 100 copies of each. (We'll press up more if there is enough demand for them.) Get them while you can.

The CDs are titled "Upon request, a musical decade" I received them from the pressing plant last Thurdsday and shipped them tp Reece and b0b Friday. They will probably arrive today. I cannot say whrn b0b will put them in the catalog, but if you order them, he should be able to fill that order in a day or 2.

Reece will also have copies for sale, and if you are in a rush, you can buy them from me as well.

They are not "now available" from the Forum catalog. They will be available shortly. Please don't order from me until I have them ready to ship.

Edited to add:

This is very exciting! If you feel like it--only if you feel like it--could you tell us which jazz tunes are on the jazz CD?

Anyway, thanks for doing this!

Also, please order by item number. Mrs. Lee needs that info to fill the orders correctly. Volume 1 is #C-038. Volume 2 is #C-039.

I guess I didn't order enough of them from Mike. I sold out already. He's sending more, so don't worry. If you mail your order today, I should be able to fill it by the end of the week.

I'm listening to mine again this morning, I'm about to wear them out. If you don't have these CD's, I highly recommend them. Some of the best steel playing ever IMHO.

Jim, this is one of the few mistakes that this old "mashuganah" has ever made. I'm not going to dig this hole any deeper.
