New Forumite Introduction
HELLO FELLOW FORUMITES. JUST WANTED TO INTRODUCE MYSELF. I'M BRETT. I AM THE LEAD SINGER AND RYTHYM PLAYER OF THE SLIM PICKINS BAND HERE IN PHOENIX. BEEN READING POSTS ON THIS SITE FOR AWHILE NOW AND FINALLY JOINED UP. I'M 33 YEARS OLD AND BEEN A HUGE LOVER OF THE STEEL GUITAR SINCE I HEARD ALL MY EXES ABOUT 20 YEARS AGO. AND SO IT GOES. FINALLY BOUGHT MY FIRST OF MANY STEELS(HOPEFULLY) A COUPLE OF MONTHS BACK, A CARTER STARTER AND THOUGHT I WOULD BEGIN THIS JOURNEY WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM Y'ALL. I HAVE ALOT OF OPINIONS ABOUT ALOT OF THINGS MUSICALLY AND CAN'T WAIT TO WEIGH IN ON SOME OF THEM. THE MAIN BEING THE CURRENT STATE OF COUNTRY MUSIC. SO WITH THAT BEING SAID, HELLO AND PLEASE FEEL FREE TO PASS ON ANYTHING THAT YOU THINK MIGHT HELP A BRAND NEW STEELER. MANY THANKS, BRETT

Hi Brett,
welcome to the Forum! You sure will have a great time. But please turn off the caps lock. It's considered yelling and it really makes it hard to read.
Thanks,
MArtin

Brett, welcome....you have just taken up two addicting things! The worst being the pedal steel...you just can't seem to get it out of your system...and number two, the steel guitar forum. I have to say there are alot of great people on here and will help you with anything you run into. Plus you will have alot of fun in the process. Welcome!

Welcome, Brett - this is definitely the right place for someone starting out. Lots of good info to be had here, especially if you use the "Search" function - hundreds if not thousands of good beginner questions have already been answered in previous posts. And if you don't find the answer there, there's a good chance someone here can answer most anything else you need to know to get going. Good luck.

Welcome Brett. I've been enjoying this forum for about 6 months, and I will concur with what Dave said. There is a complete encyclopedia of pedal steel information here, using the "search" function.
Good luck.

Welcome Brett. I will have to say that I have never met better people that ALL my forum friends. We really get a good feeling from helping each other. There are no dumb questions. I expect to learn as much, or more, from you as you do from me. So you got a Carter? They are an excellent instrument and there are some good people at Carter. I played lead guitar with Bud Carter back before the Dead Sea got sick and he is a great guy to know. He knows steel guitars and he knows how to treat people. Hope to see you on here frequently....... JD
