Survey: Any interest in Reece's 70's rcordings?

Post by Mike Perlowin RIP »

There now exists, a double CD master of the best material from Reece's recordings during the 70's. This includes the best material from his "moods of" LPs, the 2 live cuts that graced the LP that Scotty produced, and most of the material from his previously European only release, "Universal Steel Man." These CDs are the result of a collaborative effort between our fellow forumites Joe Goldmark, who supplied the material, Mike Brebes, who painstakingly removed all the pops and scratches from the recordings, and myself. I selected which material should be included and which to leave off. Interestingly, Mike Brebes independently came up with his own similar list of which material to include, and we agreed 100%. There was not a single tune either of us thought should be included or rejected that was not the other's lists. Basically we kept all the C6 (Bb6) pop and jazz tunes which are Reece's specialty, and left off all the E9 country.

This was done without Reece's knowledge or permission. It was meant to be a surprise.

Reece down not think there is much of a market for this material, and so we are taking this survey to determine whether or not there is. If we get 50 or more people who say they would buy these 2 CDs, we'll go ahead and press them up. Otherwise we will not.

What say you all?

I would DEFINITELY be getting both.

As the formost proponent of Bb6 tuning,
and a super player...
I would be foolish NOT to scoop these up.

I am sure there will be many more saying much the same.
[This message was edited by David L. Donald on 05 May 2005 at 12:38 AM.]
