My DVD is defective also. It just shows a group of women stranded on a tropical island, sunbathing.

I haven't received mine yet and I ordered it the first day you posted. Has it gotten lost? When I called the person I spoke with said they hadn't been mailed yet, but it seems at least some where. Any ETA on shipment?

DVD Arrived today!!

Only had a chance to hear a couple of tracks but so far its brilliant.

Received the DVD today. Have been able to watch maybe 1/3 of it so far.

All I can say is that the SuperSlide sounds wonderful and the players are fantastic.

You guys blow me away!

Bobbe; Got my cds to day 1st cd plays great the second cd stops half way through right at interveiw part 2.

The MSA guys were very gracious. The weather was great, food incredible, mood and atmosphere were the best. Next time we just need all you guys to show up! It was FREE you know.

Bobbe mine has some digital glitches but mostly plays. These are DVD ROMs, right? Comes with the territory. I'm about 3/4 of the way through mine. Wow! You guys get an incredible amount of music out of an 8-string lap steel. I notice you tilt the bar a lot Bobbe, while the other guys keep 'em flat and palm/pick block. Randy's hand position looks painful but it sure works! I like the little flourishes you add Bobbe ... the trills, exaggerated Chalker style bar wiggles, etc. .... really brings the music to life.

Got mine too. So far no gliches. I haven't finished the 2nd DVD yet.

So, 3 magnificent players, state of the art non pedal steels, and held at The Italian Grill & Cafe. How can you go wrong?

Hey Bobbe, want to get that dobro sound on the Super Slide? Try a sweet basil sausage. They're tricky on reverse slants though....

You guys who say your discs are defective, check out Jay Fagerlie's post above. Maybe the discs are not compatible with your player. Try your computer's drive, that may work.

All three players on the DVD are wonderful, with distinct styles. Randy has some intricate picking patterns going on that were excellent. Bobbe could play that thing in his sleep, he looks so comfortable and listening to and watching him I'm thinking "eight strings should be enough."

But it was Reece with the way he used the 12 string tuning, combining the big, full chords with the individually picked strings that knocked my socks off.

Several months ago, I had the distinct pleasure of seeing Bobby Black play (it has been years since I have seen him) in Sonoma in The Lost Weekend western swing band. Bobby had his fairly new 12 string non-pedal from West Coast Steel Guitars. He told me that he was playing Reece's 12 string tuning on his guitar and that he was "still getting used to it." Coulda fooled me-he sounded like he'd been playing that tuning for 20 years. That 12 string non-pedal sound is something else, and on this new Super Slide I have a feeling I'd be very satisfied and wouldn't have that nagging thought "I really need a pedal guitar to go along with this."

The deal is that I have never graduated beyond 6 string lap steel and dobro, and my fear is that the 12 string might be biting off a lot more than I can chew. I could always start with the 9-string on the higher string count neck-but what do you do with that 9th string?

Can anyone list the 12 string tuning that Reece uses so I can attempt to visualize it?

The engineering-the interchangeable necks-they have really thought this thing out. It might be pretty expensive to buy a second neck later (Reece spoke of the possibility of doing this on the DVD). I'd like to make the right decision the first time. As I wrote earlier, listening to Bobbe play-8 strings oughta be enough-but between Reece, Randy Beavers, and some months ago Bobby Black on his 12-string, man, that sound is mesmerizing!

Reece´s´tuning (low to high)

Take Bobbe´s 8 string

FACE GACE

Add a "D" on the bottom....A "C" could seem logical but it´s not really for extra range, more for extra harmonic possibilities

D FACE GACE

Now add 3 strings...the typical 10 string C6 G on top, the typical 10 string C6 D on top and one more....a B string.

D FACE GACE GBD

If you were to put this in scale order it would be

D FACE GAbCdEG

you have a six note scale in there GABCDE

but I repeat the actual tuning is

D FACE GACE GBD

I just finished watching both discs. It was quite a treat. Thank you to Reece, Bobbe and everyone involved. Not only is this a great way to show the Superslide, it's also a lesson in playing the steel. Wish i could have been there.

Jeremy-thank you very much for writing that out. So it's basically a C6/Fmaj9 tuning with a G chord on the top three.

I wonder if Reece has a name for it: "Reece Anderson's extended FACE GACE?"

It's great to see the positive reception of the DVD and I appreciate the nice comments. Bobbe and Randy are exceptional players, and more importantly great friends.
