I wish to acknowledge the great unselfish contributions that this great player has done and is doing for steel guitar, steel players, and the world of steel guitar as a whole.
What he has done this past weekend along with his 26 year old son, Jeramy, for me, Ron Elliott,Scotty,Jess Hurt,Billy Robinson and the steel guitar hall of fame only goes to show what a giving people the Owsleys are.
The use of a half million dollar bus,stocked with food and a driver, all for the transportation of four steel players to a hall of fame show,five hundred miles away, is a gesture to the steel community that shouldn't go unacknowledged. This is something that this great player has done many times for the world of steel guitar, along with many other unselfish acts for the steel community.
I think we should all let him know how we appreciate his generosity. This guy can't say "no" to anything that could help the world of steel guitar.

I agree Bobbe. Lynn is deserving of this testimonial for current (and past!) support of the HOF fund-raising efforts and the promotion of the steel guitar in general. Also deserving is a big "Thank You" to Ron Elliott, Scotty, Jess Hurt, Billy Robinson and you Bobbe, for donating your time and expense in support of the HOF.

I had the pleasure and honor of meeting Lynn recently at the Florida S.G.H.O.F. fund raiser. He is not only a great steeler, he is a true gentleman, always giving praise to his fellow steelers. He fits my definition of "Prerequisite for Greatness" -- i.e. having the humility and willingness to help others.

I have known Lynn since the late 60's and he is truly a fine man. We shared an apartment in the late 60's and shared many licks as we practiced daily. I remember when he told me he was going to Nashville and he has been succesful. He is a great steel player and a good friend. He always calls or visits when he is close by. He is truly everything that Bobbe says and is an asset to the steel guitar community.

I personally know what a heart Lynn has. The first time I met Lynn, he came in where I was playing in Branson and managed to listen to me for more than one song.
Now that I think about it, Maybe he just has a hearing problem !!!!

Lynn should be commmended for his support of the S.G.H.O.F. He supplied the a bus for our Florida Hall Of Fame show this past February.
Which would not have happened if he had not done so.
And yes, a Great Picker without question and a fine gentleman.
It was also a pleasure to jam with him at one of our monthly Jams.

Lynn has been doing it for years. A plaque on the wall in St. Louis should someday bear his name for his accomplishments and efforts"above and beyond the call of duty."

Lyn is a person that I am profoundly proud to call friend. Same guy where ever you see him. His son, Jermy is a nice guy also.. A lot of people dont know how great of a person he is.. Lynn suffered thru quite a few nights on Lower broad with me trying to re-learn bass playing the right way in the early 70's. Ain't so sure if I ever learned it the right way, but I learned a lot from Lynn about Nashville music, while he was patient with me, He didn't have very much patience with a New York Cowboy fiddler who dropped in on our gig and wanted to sit in and dazzle us, totally dressed in red from the tip of his boots all the way up to the top of his red stetson hat (we didn't check his drawers, but I suspect they were probably red too)

along with a red fiddle, which he wasn't very good at. Lynn played the guys fiddle upside down left handed and told him something and the guy left. If you want to know what Lynn told him, ask Him, because I ain't a Tellin.

When Lynn got the gig with ET, I was working at Shobud upstairs from the main showroom in the Amp department, He was groomed and coached for the upcoming first gig with ET at the Shobud Factory by no less than Ron Elliot, Lloyd Green and Hal Rugg. I was just upstairs and got to hear it all. I was tickled to death to see him get the job and almost as much to see the brotherhood among Nashville Steel Guitarists. I never saw that kind of brotherhood among any other group of Nashville pickers. My knowledge is limited to the 70's, but in that period of time Nashville Steelers were a tight group that stuck together and I envied that. Wish it had been more like that with other instrument players.

Lynn has always been a Credit to the Country Music business and his instrument. He is a member of a very small select group of great musicians, that were called the Texas Troubadours. Ain't been a whole lot of people who have ever done that.

I was always his Brother Picker And 4 years ago on July 10th 2004, I became his Masonic Brother as well. Should have done it many years ago and I would have understood the brotherhood among Steelers much better back then.

Lynn's one of the busiest guy's I have ever talked with. We spent a month of him on the road, trying to make arrangements for him to get my first PSG shipped to me. He finally took it to Bobbe and before I knew it, I was a newby steeler.

He's fun to call on his cell at 2am when he's on the road. I plan on getting Smiley to run me by his house when I'm out that way in Sept, so I can finally meet him in person. What a good guy!

Lynn if you read this before you head to Willie's Picnic, hunt down Norm Hamlet , I asked him to say howdy to you for me. Now there's another good old boy.

A pleasure to read so many nice things said about Lynn and Jeremy. He's another one of those guys you'll always find in a jam room during the wee hours of the morning at Scotty's. Still plays that good old country stuff, despite the Kid Rock gig.

Ole Lynn is a dandy alright. A couple years ago Joan and I had the priviledge to ride with Lynn to the TSGA show here in Dallas along with Billy Robinson and some other friends. Lynn loves steel guitar and more than that has a great respect for the legends of country music. Lynn will be in Ft. Worth this weekend along with Ronnie Dale and some other Texas Troubadours at the Ft. Worth Stockyards. I hope to see you guys while you are in town. Keep it up Lynn.
