Oil paintings.
And for all you car buffs, we here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast are right now in the midst of a two week "Cruising the Coast" antique car event. Over 6000 registered great classic autos are here running up and down the coast. Many graded events and it is great to sit on the sea wall and watch our car history drive by. Even saw a covered wagon drawn by two mules go by..Neat. Come on down...

I am a jack of all trades and a master of none. I fool around with electronics, carpentry, motorcycles, hunting, fishing, recovering amps, mechanicing, and several other intrest. I figure that is why I can't play steel as good as I could if I had less intrest and spent more time on the steel. I love the steel guitar though!!

R/C planes. Sure is a lot of you guys flying them...I only watch, my brother is pretty involved with them. His last one was a stunt plane, The "Raven" or somthing like that.
He builds and flys the prototypes then sells the molds. He also represents a radio transmitter company when he flys.
His name is Bob Francis, Aptos CA. Is anyone familiar with him?

Race Cars. I took an extended hiatus from my steel shortly after I received my Mechanical Engineering Degree in 1960.Joined a major Auto manufacturer heavily involved in motorsports and was lucky enough to make a good living in racing and had fun doing it.
Now I am back playing my steel and helping my grandson build and maintain his Pro Late Model racecar.Equipment auctions and Fooling with 60's era muscle cars crank my tractor also. Life hasn't been dull

An amazing group of individuals here..
For many years I built Model Cars , mostly Corvettes. 1/25th and 1/24th scale box stock. Most were built to order and are in homes all across the US and even in Europe..
My eyes got a little weak so I stopped ..with the models and graduated to the real deal..6 Vette's later I am now without one and that is fine..but the last one was a real killer..69 /427 /4 speed/425 HP ..murder on my back but incredible go straight car..very loud..very fast..and very dangerous..very glad I'm not still spending money on that cash cow..
I'm fine with having the Telecaster and the Steel as my main source of away from work time. Spending more time with recording with my wife again again as well.
great responses here.

Tony,
Talking about 1/24 scale models, I'm 49 years young and still putting them things together. But, I wanted to say also is that back in the late 50's and through the 60's, I was REALLY into Slot Car racing. These were also 1/24 scale. I had a few that would pull a "Wheelie" when I pulled the Controller Trigger Full Throddle . This hobbie was real popular back then, and I have checked on the "Web" to see the current places to go racing, But, it's not like it used to be. I had several of "Big Daddy Roth's" Dream cars that you can still buy. He has a "Rat Fink" web site that brings up ALL the Cool stuff from that era. Check it out, it will bring back a lot of old memories

When I'm not chained to my store, I like to exercise. In the past 15 years I've completed 12 marathons including the Boston Marathon. In 1997 at 53 y/o I had a PR of 3 hrs 29 min. at the Chicago Marathon. I've completed 3 Olympic distance triathlons and next year as I turn 60(oh my god I said it out loud), I hope to qualify for the Ironman Triathlon. I also love to cook, eat, drink good wine, tequila and vodka. My main hobby and love of course is the steel guitar.

Like Mr Emmons, Astronomy/CCD Astrophotography with my home-brew 10"f8 Newtonian. Amateur Radio - K2TA, Novelty songwriting / recording in basement, 5-string bass (amateur), Old time radio show collecting (28,000+ shows on reel-to-reel), Old time radio restoration and driving around in my self-restored 1967 Austin Healey Sprite (British Racing Green). Very interesting to read everyone's interests here.

Another R/C airplane nut here, but haven't flown in a couple years, no time and need new glasses. Also a ham, was W7OQX but changed it to K7JAZ because I could never get the phonetics out right, too many times it came out "Whiskey Seven Ocsar Quebwec X-way"...never had that problem on CW...."Juliet Alpha Zulu" is much easier plus it spells "Jazz", sorta....too bad I can't play any...also like riding my Harley, Shortwave listening on my old boatanchor receivers, working on websites, some photography, astronomy. Lately no time for anything except getting ready to move.

Rifles, pistols and shooting in general as well as reloading. I'm set up to reload 40 different calibers from 22 Rem. Jet to 50 BMG.
I like tools also and guitars both electric and acoustic.
[This message was edited by Jim West on 21 October 2003 at 02:10 PM.]

While not a hobby, Medicine is a true passion and ministry. I practice family medicine in a rural Christian clinic for indigent and medicaid patients. Jesus Christ, my family, and medicine are actually far more important to me than any of this other stuff... including pedal steel.
