Steelers' other hobbies?

Post by Chris Brooks »

Steel players seem to be an eclectic sort.

I'd be interested to know what hobbies or special interests some of the names or non-names indulge in (besides collecting small green portraits of Benjamin Franklin!)

I believe Mr. Emmons, for example, is very interested in astronomy. And do I recollect correctly that Lloyd Green is a history buff?

Woodworking has equal billing with the steel guitar in my life.

Jesus has blessed me beyond imagination with what he has given me with respect to these two passions. And I thank him with all my heart for them.

Collecting fine wine, drinking finer wine, sniffing and spiting at stuffy tastings while listening to geeky conversation. Rendering the finest version of the Gettysburg Address when the sniffing and spiting ceases, somewhere between gulps

Most of you probably won't believe this... but I dicovered fitness, weight lifting and body building in the recent years... It's not as easy as most think.

If I recall it right, I once read BE was into model trains, years ago (?).

Maurice, Jeff Newman and Bobbe Seymore have been or still are flying.

I'm a bass fisherman when I'm not involved in musical endeavors. I also enjoy cooking very much.

Wow. You-all ARE eclectic . . . and some are even electric!

Stu, did you know our own Ocean State
steeler Len Amaral has a yo-yo company?

I too, like John and Steve, have wanted to put together a model railroad, but no time, space or money.

I was into BMW motorcycles for years, then collected Hudson cars for a while. I flew sailplanes, too.

Now I draw, paint, travel, take photos, read a lot, occasionally build and fly kites, and study foreign languages.

Well...I do read a lot. Image

I have a pretty extensive library which is eclectic, in itself. The majority of the books being on firearms, automobiles, Titanica, martial arts, and strange phenomena and UFO's. Other "significant categories" include contemporary music, history, electronics, film and movies, and the physical sciences.

That "eclectric enough" for 'ya? Image

I'm into late 1950's Morris Minor cars from England. Here's a photo of me with my new prize possession! She was on the cover of the July 1997 "British Car Magazine".
