She is not the only female performer to market themselves in this way. Britney and Christina are two more that come to mind and they are not even country. I don't say that this is totally a bad thing. It just makes a convenient camouflage for musical talent, or lack thereof.
You, on doubt, have heard Britney's CD's;___who would be buying these recordings if she presented herself at live audiences in the same manner as did Crystal Gayle?
But since this is the Steel Guitar Forum, think about this question: If the steel guitarist, at Super Bowl halftime, makes the best performance of his life, with Shania's style of delivery, who will notice except another steel guitar player? There is too much distraction in the forefront.
