Bobbe Seymour - was it ****** *****?
Bobbe,
There was a question posed here a couple of months ago regarding the identity of the steel player on Elvis Presley's 'Can't Help Falling In Love' - there were a few guesses, but you said they were all wrong!
I think it was Bernie Lewis......
If I'm right, do I get any of those recycled .011s that you sell - you know, the ones you've tied back together - ?

It was Willie J. Hackmyre. He was drunk, or drinking heavely at the time. He did many Nashville sessions on his Silvertone lap steel but ended up selling it to the recently departed, Big Joe Talbert. He was shot two years later by a jelous husband while trying to pick up the guys wife in a bank while making a deposit with money he got in a hold up at a gas station in Madison Tn. I think he was drunk then also. Yep,Willy was not much of a steel player either, strange decisions he made in life.
The only thing he can really be credited for is putting Elvis where he is today!

Yes, he played on several tunes that weren't very popular. "You Ain't Nothin' 'cept a Dashound" and " Tutti Frute Flavored" and "Fulz Rushed Out". I think he also stared on the great Elvis hit,"American Biology". " Tennessee Rain" was stolen by the state of Kentucky and re-released north of the Tn. border as bootleg copys.

Do you remember: "Get Out of the Wheatfield Grandma, your Going Against the Grain?" or the old favorite : She was only a Stableman's Daughter but all the Horsemen new her?" (say it fast)
Remember the old Hank Williams song: Mansion on the Hill? Elvis had one called: "I loved my Little Shack up in the Hills" A total ripoff! Hank and Elvis are argueing about this today!
Yep, Willy was a great player, not famous for his playing, just for who he played with. Like so many of us.
(Do you believe I admitted this?)

Bobbe
You'll thank me for this in time - all these guys will eventually buy a guitar from you in sheer gratitude for your gems of musicological history.
No commission will be due to me, but I will expect the higher grade of recycled .011s - the ones you actually solder together.....

Didn't Willie also play on another Elvis tune?
