I just happened to mention Jody's name to Jerry Daniels, a great session guitar player here in town, and he said he had an old pic or 2 of Jody. He lent me this and I scanned it - thanks Jerry! (Jerry doesn't even have a computer - he's an old fashioned guy!)

Image

This looks pretty interesting - Jody Carver's Sizzlers!

I see 2 bass players! And I used to think Little Richard was the first to do that!

What a great picture! Did the guy tell you any more about it? I would like to know when it was taken (guessing 50's) and who is in the group? The name on the guitar must have been popular back then. My Stringmaster has a name on the bottom of it also.

Jody, I like the hat, was it also tweed?
Probably matched the pants...

I forgot to ask what the white thing on the floor is? Were girlss throwing out white tank tops back then too?

He also said that was Leo Fender was in the foreground and Zeb Carver was at the far left . .
[This message was edited by Rick Alexander on 27 January 2005 at 05:59 PM.]

1955,,,the head in the foreground is that of Leo's partner Don Randall and next to Don is Mrs Randall. Leo is not visible as he took the photo.

The white object was my towel I used to wipe my strings

The hat was not tweed,it was made by HowardR
My dad is on the far left and let me if you will correct Rick my dads name was Zeb Carver.

Who gave this to you Rick? I was wearing no pants behind the stand. Image I couldn't stand to take a bow.I had an e mail telling me that we are foolish and should grow up.

I will when I get older Imageedited who is Jerry Daniels..any relation to Jack?

Notice the wide face tweed twin behind me..greatest Fender amp I ever had.
[This message was edited by Jody Carver on 27 January 2005 at 05:58 PM.]

Yes, he's Jack's younger brother . . Image

He plays guitar (really good too!) and sells fake Rolexes to Canadian tourists during season . .

This is the other pic he had. You know, it just occurred to me - this guy seems more than a little shady . . . What the heck was he doing with this pic?? I've heard he moonlights as a second story man. Did your hotel room get robbed 50 years ago by any chance?

Look what it says:

Image

It's kind of hard to read, but it says:

quote:
Jody,
I enjoyed your wonderful performance,
You made me happy with your God-given
talent -
You are always
welcome to return
Good Luck, Lad

I wonder what else this dude has of yours.
I think I'll pay him a little visit and see what I can find out!

Hello Knight of Fender Tweed,
I loved your piece on dentistry, and made a copy for my boss. Very clever!
So did the club send out a recess announcement or something? Where has everyone been? Well, at Recess, I’m sure. Being the punctual member I’m committed to being, I’m reporting in on some of my TWEED findings of late.
The Club is in luck and very timely, guys! According to WWD magazine, tweed has made a comeback. But not so quick to get excited about that preppy look our generation respected and loved. For 2005, it must be worn differently than the way we wore it, of course.
Since receiving my title, Princess of Tweed, I wanted to brush up on the do’s and don’ts of the NEW tweed fad before helping our Goodwill Ambassador, Sir Tony Davis with his wardrobe. Here are some 2005 guidelines I stumbled upon for mixing and matching our tweeds.
Try tweeds with metallic, leather, a black satin dress or even plaids. (I’m serious, this was in the article!!) Now who are these people kidding? I’d eat a tweed sandwich before I’d wear it with metallic!
If you're really ready to stand out from the crowd, wear your tweed jacket over a camisole or nothing at all, then pile on layer upon layer of gold necklaces and chokers for a modern look. This sounds more like salad bar etiquette than fashion advise. (No, Tony – this just isn’t YOU yet!)
I’ll be continuing research on Tony’s green-legged tweed trousers.

Princess of Tweed

Well, I figured out the best way to record a Stringmaster to get that tasty natural sound. It must have been time well spent because Jeff Au Hoy himself emailed me to ask what recording techniques I used.
TOO OLD is the name of the song . .

Maybe I should make that the subject of the article for the newsletter.

Now if I can just get Jeff to tell me how to make my slants 100% accurate every time . .

Donna the Princess of Tweed writes..

Where has everyone been? looking for Balmex
they all have a severe case of Tweed rash, its so bad it traveled to their heads.

Two members whose names I will not mention who dont have a hair on their heads were seen in a local bar in Florida, they were up close speaking with their heads together when some gal walked by and they made a wise crack and the gal said,,,hey guys, why dont you two get together and make an $ss of yourselves. Imageedited,,,do you see that your question has been ignored? thats because they have their heads up where the sun dont shine,,it happens all the time and they all say women are gossips,,look at these two above..they are comatose Image

Dr.Carver DDS FACP..edited they go to bed each night thinking of string lengths and how much cabinet drop they have suffered.

Hey Rick Donna asked a question, where's your head at? Just because your a rising star doesnt mean you cant answer the Princess's question.I knew your hat size would change now that your a happening kind of guy. Imageedited,,I'm not a happening kind of guy like you,,I already happened.
[This message was edited by Jody Carver on 02 February 2005 at 10:44 PM.]

Jody, you are so a happening kind of guy. You just sold out all your CDs - I still have some of mine left!

Donna asked where has everyone been - I barely know where I've been! I was in the studio recording that song about being Too Old. (what a cheap plug!) Now, today is my birthday and I really am old. (what an even cheaper plug!)

Rick, so your hat size and age both change as you're writing TOO OLD. Something profound there, ya know! By the way, I can't get that song off my mind. (maybe something profound there, too?)
Happy Birthday to the next rising star!!

Very professional. No, I am not surprised. Very well written and interesting. It had a very warm and tweedy ambiance to it. Thank you for the time you put in for us... Image ImageTX

Rick, thanks for posting that photo of Jody and the "Sizzlers". Only you could have found that one. Whoever said there were two bass players; the guy on the right side looks like he's waiting to go on next, but not actually playing.
