Looks interesting. I wonder why he's selling them?

$$$$$$$$ would be my wild guess.

There's also some pedal steels he's selling at stratospheric prices on ebay.

not to mention this item:

I agree with Howard about "stratospheric prices. I'm not of the opinion that the musician who owns the stuff makes it worth a young fortune.

To anyone with their feet on the ground, no. But in a country where celebrity is worshipped, maybe. They say on Antique Roadshow that an antique with a story behind it is worth more than one without.

You guys might have a point. My ownership of a wartime Rick Bakelite actually decreased its value by about 63%.

Who's to say that these actually belong to Junior? He's not that busy right now with his touring schedule, so I cannot understand why he doesn't post these items on E-Bay himself. Furthermore, the fella claiming to be "selling these items on his behalf" and also claims to be Junior's "system administrator" lives all the way up in Minnesota; Junior and Tanya Ray reside in Austin, Texas. And I doubt very seriously that Junior would be hurting for the money seeing as how his new album, "Down Home Chrome", is doing quite well. Something ain't right about this picture, but that's just my opinion. On a similar note, my cousin and I were at a flea market back when we were in high school, and this old windbag was selling an old Hohner harmonica claiming that it was one of the first harmonicas that Bob Dylan ever owned. In addition, this same man was also selling a Mickey Mantle "autographed" baseball that also beared the signature of John Wayne on it; both signatures were clearly forged with a rubber stamp and ink. Long story short, I didn't buy that guy's stories, nor do I buy the story of this so-called friend/system administrator of Junior Brown's.

Sincerely,
Tay Joslin

Tay, the guy I have do occasional website work lives in Wisconsin and I'm in Arizona. It's the internet, you don't have to live close to the person that takes care of your site.
Seems like the 'provenance' of these items could be verified by contacting Jr. directly and/or viewing the video mentioned in the acution.
Still, don't think I'd spend that sort of scratch unless Mr. Brown would come over evey week and give me lessons on them too.

It's business.

I own a frypan--I get the going price.

Junior Brown owns the frypan-he gets the going price PLUS what ever he can tack on because of his name linked to it. There is the hope that a person who is fixated on JB will buy it for the inflated price.

If it belonged to Elvis it would be priceless.

I personally don't think that JB has the star status to demand/command such prices for these instruments. $3500 for a funky Fender 2000----no way.

Well ... I offered Hal Smith $5K for Dick McIntires frypan ...

But that was an A25 ...

And it was a "Holy Grail" model (3/8" thick magnets) ...

And it was Dick McIntire's...

If Hal would have said (insert Dick for Junior) :
If you give me your phone number, the winning bidder will also get a phone call from Junior himself explaining some of the history of the guitars.
I would have gone $6K ... Image Image

These 2 Rickys are in Dandy condition ... that Spanish B6 is Image ...

Those are exceptionally clean instruments--cleanest Fry Pan I've ever seen. I would say they're only off by about $2K on that auction.

Mike,
I totally agree and completely understand the fact that a system administrator is not required to live in your vicinity in order to perform his or her tasks, and this guy might just be legitimate. Either way, the prices being asked for these items are outrageous. As much as I love J.B., I cannot see anyone placing a bid on anything he has for sale at these prices. As previously mentioned, he does not have the star status that Elvis Presley had; it just isn't practical. Nor do I find it practical that a guy all the way up in Minnesota (of all places) works for Junior Brown. I understand your situation, Mike, but, even so, this "system administrator" is using Junior for status. I'll hush, though; I may very well be in the wrong. For Junior's sake, I hope I am.

HA-HA! Maybe that piece comes from the personal wardrobe of Junior's "system administrator", which would explain why he lives so far away from Junior; he ain't allowed in Junior's entourage! And, yes, it's a fine bargain! You're a riot, Mr. Howard!

A quick stop at Junior Brown's Website ... verifies that Matt Reine is his Webmaster ...

As far as the prices being "outrageous" ... I can't speak for the PSG ...

But ... the A22 is about as "Mint" as anyone will ever find ...

And the Spanish B6 ... in that condition ... Image

The fact that they belonged to Junior B. is basically irrelevant ...

I predict that these specimens will hanging in a "Glass Case" somewhere ... most likely in Japan.

The stipulation that they are selling to US bidders only ... a mere technicallity

If that spanish B6 was an electric Vibrola at one time, it sure doesn't look like the big electric Vibrola unit is on the back any longer and doesn't look thick enough for the shallower electric Vibrola model; And the upper bout covers also don't have the electric Vibrola vents ...nor the upper treble bout control knob (some didn't); Nor does it's bass bout knob have electric Vibrola vent holes under-neath it either. And if it was once a manual Vibrato (vibrato bridge / arm), it doesn't appear to be there anymore either. Has anyone seen a B6 with one knob on the lower bass bout side?

It could very well be a Vibrola / Vibrato model I've never encountered, ...and I've seen several different configurations; but I can't help but ask, ...if for nothing else than live and learn ... die and forget it all.
