Steel Guitar Computer game?

Post by Skip T »

I was talking to another forumite the other day about my 6 yr old grandson and "wishing" he would get interested in steel, instead of just "video / computer games". The idea came about, that maybe someone with a lot of computer "savy" could create some sort of computer (music)game or such that would incorporate the steel guitar. I know what I want to say, just having a hard time expressing the idea into words that make sense. He has computer discs that teach him almost everything you can imagine. ANY IDEAS anyone ? ? I really believe this could develop into something for a lot of young kids. Give it some thought, a "Good Idea" or "D.O.A." ? thanks - Skip

I think it is a good idea to put together a CD-ROM for Steel Guitar, but I think that the Pedal Steel Guitar is a little advanced for the younger kids. I started out with piano when I was a kid and then progressed to guitar and then banjo and then to the steel. I think a kid might get frustrated at the PSG. The attention span of kids today is awful, and I don't think they would have the attention span to make it at the PSG.

However, I know that with the popularity of all the video's out there, a CD-ROM would more than likely take off like a rocket if it was available. How easy would it be to watch on your laptop while traveling or something like that.

My vote is for Cindy Cashdollar to make a E13 CD-ROM!

It would go something like this.

Group of Nashville 20-something producers and Music Row cost-cutting business managers rampage the coutryside in their EXTREME MONSTER TRUCKS running over and smashing every steel guitar in the world until they're all gone.

GAME OVER!

LOL, Michael!

OR

the game could be called "POP MIX".
The screen looks like a big mixing board, you're the producer, and your goal is to turn down the correct fader whenever a Steel or Fiddle is heard in the mix.

Points are deducted if you mistakenly turn down the drums.

____

Sorry Skip, your idea has merit, I just got carried away.

The original Myst had organ/keyboard puzzle.

I would love to have a Myst-erious steel guitar incorporated in to a Myst/Riven like game.

But then I would like to find any other game that measure up to the standard set by Myst and Riven: to date I have seen no game that does meet that standard.

BTW" to open the vault door play strings 1, 4, 9, 11, and 12 and press the A and B pedals.

Thanks for the replies and the "laughs" Image
As far as a 6 yr old learning, the guitar itself may be too advanced, I agree, but these kids today are very sharp on computers and a youngster can learn so much about the music and the guitar, if only there was something out there on disc. He presently has a 6 string , 2 pedal guitar that he "strums" on and that is keeping him interested to a point. Thanks - - Skip
