Assuming you're talking about the mouse pointer, and not a cursor such as you get when writing a document, you may need to upgrade or reinstall your mouse software. If you just installed new hardware, you may have a resource conflict between that and your mouse. Check Device Manager for any conflicts.

I have bad news for you. You have inherited a virus! I experienced the same problem a couple of weeks ago. When I wanted to click on an icon, they started to dance around all over the monitor. You got the virus over the internet. I asked around as to the best antivirus program and was advised to procure a program called PCcillin. You can download it over the internet by going to www.antivirus.com You can download a trial copy if you like. I bought a copy and installed it on my computer. It went through my computer files and found 27 files with a virus on them. They quarantined the files and stopped the virus. When you are getting your e-mails it even advises you of updates and puts them on your computer as we speak. This way they stay on top of all the wackos out there with nothing else to do but raise havoc with our PCs. Good Luck. Erv

Or you can have PCcillin scan your whole HD online for free. If you click the right box you can have your virus removed. Go to www.pccillin.com and click the.... ooops you can't do that. Well, try to click the free scan icon at the top of their web site. If you can't i'll try to retrieve the site addressess to get you to the right page.
[This message was edited by erik on 18 April 2002 at 03:12 PM.]

Buck:
Is it your curser that hops around or the icons? If it's your curser, it could just be your mouse. If you are using a common mouse, sometimes there gets lint and crud in where that little ball is located in your mouse. If this is the case, just turn the little cover, take the ball out and clean the contacts in there with a q-tip or a toothpick. I've had to do this on occasion.

Hey guys, My pc is doing better now. I had it really overloaded with songs and pictures and it was trying to quit on me. I dumped out a lot of stuff and now it seems to be doing a lot better. The mouse is not jumping any more. Thanks for all your help. I have a roller ball mouse that sets still on my desk. Thank you all!!!! Buck
