RealPlayer v6.0 & bothersome flag

Post by Chip Fossa »

Hello everyone,
I just recently downloaded the latest version
of Realplayer [6.0+] and now they're pain-in-the-butt alert flag [about how RP is not currently setup as my default for many audio/video types] keeps popping up forever.

It has no real way to not only get rid of itself, but to set it up as the 'default'. It
says click here to fix the problem, and when I do, it disappears and no change-box appears. The next thing that will appear again is the dumb alert box.

I can't set it to configure, reconfigure, or get rid of it permanently. I can only, at this point, just drag it off screen.

RP has not made it any easier to disable it where you don't want it.

Any help in this matter will more be more than appreciated. Thanks all.

Realplayer 6 the latest version? I've been using Realplay 8 for quite some time and the latest version is now called Real ONE, I installed that and hated it, went back to Realplayer 8 (still have the download saved)...Don't know about your flag problem, but 6 is NOT the latest version.

Maybe you have somehow installed both 6 and 8. If so, I'd say uninstall both and reinstall 8 again.

Thanks Jim & Jim,
My mistake. I did download RealPlayer 1,
but at 1st I wasn't aware that that was the actual new name.

So I went to 'properties'/ 'version' and
6.0 something showed up. Can't figure.

Anyway, I kept the old 8.0 install-icon in the RP folder, removed RP1, and went back to RP 8.0. Yup, I like it much better, too. At least that nuisance flag is gone.

Thanks fellas, for the insight.
