How do I add Search Engines?
On my Internet Explorer5 I had acess to 5 or 6 search engines when I clicked on search
I had altavista ,msn, lycos uk etc,my computer crashed at xmas and I had to teinstall windows.I downloaded an update for explorer(6) but now I have only two search engines msn and uk.
I tried to customise it but you can't seem to add any more to whats already there.
Anywone any ideas on this one??

John-- I prefer the 'links' bar to the 'search' button. Navigate to a site you like, such as www.google.com and then click on IE's 'favorites' tab, then 'Add....'
Hilite the 'links' selection and click OK.
The 'links' bar should show near the top of IE to the right of the 'address' box. Your address box may take up most of that line. If so, click and hold on the divider at the right side(or right side of the 'go' button) and drag to the left.
If the link bar still doesn't show, click on IE's 'view' tab, and look at 'toolbars'. Make sure that 'links' is checked. You can change the order of the links by dragging them within the toolbar or by editing the list under the 'favorites' tab. --Everett

I use www.google.com on IExplorer and Netscape. I have google set as my home page on both. Google is the best search engine I have ever found on the net. Not much advertising either. LH

John,
Upgrade your Internet Explorer to Version 6. You can do this by going to your "Tools" menu in Internet Explorer and then scroll down to "Windows Update". This will open the Microsoft download center. Select Internet Explorer and then download and follow the instructions. I think with Windows98se fresh install you get Version 5.00 with no updates installed. Try this and let me know how that works. Also it is a good idea to go back to that "Windows Update" site and download all of the 'Critical Updates' that are listed.

John stated in his first post that he has upgraded to IE 6. I'm running a customized version of IE 6 that was forced on me when I switched from @Home to Charter.net.
When I click the Search button, then Customize-Find A Web Page, I see six search engines to choose from: MSN Search, AltaVista, Lycos, Excite, Yahoo!, and Euroseek.
Maybe your upgrade wasn't completely successful or you downloaded a more crippled version than mine.
