Archiving Recordings to MP3 format

Post by Mike Selecky »

I have some vinyl records that I would like to convert to MP3 format. Has anyone else here done this? What are the steps necessary, and what equipment/software will I need. Is this going to be a long, tedious process? Thanks for any help or advice.

Look here: http://www.angelfire.com/vt2/tommymc3/LPtoCDR.html
Basic steps:
1. Record to your computer
2. Split into tracks (or record tracks one at a time....tedious!)
3. Remove noise if necessary
4. Convert to MP3....see list of converters: http://www.angelfire.com/vt2/tommymc3/compare.html
There is plenty of freeware/shareware available to do all this. <FONT SIZE=1 COLOR="#8e236b"><p align=CENTER>[This message was edited by Tommy Mc on 24 February 2002 at 03:52 PM.]</p></FONT>

Thanks for the help Tommy! Your site is very informative - it pretty much covers all I needed to know.

Looks like I'm going to be at this for a while though, lets see... 300 records at 30-40 min per album...
