Go to the bellsouth site. They have everything you need to get up and running. It asks you questions and all you need to do is answer them the way you want things to look.

Richard-- I rummaged around in my stuff and came up with a relatively small but adequate program that you may like. If the utility BellSouth provides is too limited or difficult to use, drop me an email. The one I am considering for you is less than 1MB zipped, takes about 2MB space unzipped, and costs about $15 to register.

The 'trial' version is limited to 10 items on the page and does not have the built-in FPT client. You need some kind of FPT to upload the files comprising you page(s) to the server.

I also did a quick(simple) page to help you get started. That would also be less than 1MB if I put it in a zip file.

Let me know if you need/want this stuff.

It's "FTP" for File Transfer Protocol. As long as your PC is running TCP/IP you can ftp from the command line, although some people like the graphical interfaces better. There is a learning curve for the command line ftp though, as it's very UNIX'y. Image

Thnx Jim-- You're absolutely right. Making a mistake once is human - so, since I did it twice, am I subhuman??? (grin). While we're 'talking', allow me to say how that posts from you and Chas are among the best. Usually well written and good info. Perhaps you two should be brothers. --Everett

CuteFTP is a good FTP program, you can download it free from zdnet.com or cnet.com, it's $15 to register and keep using it if I remember correctly. I've been using it several years for FTP for all my website work.

CuteFTP is a good client, I really have liked using SmartFTP (www.smartftp.com) though,it's full functioning freeware. You might want to compare.

Hi Richard,

I don't have a BellSouth account, but most ISP's have a site where you can create your own generic site by just running through a wizard and filling in some information. As far as uploading photos, my att.net account has a page where I browse for a file on my PC, then select it and just click on a button to upload it to my web space. Then I can link to the photo's URL on the site and display it in any web page.
