Email pix

See the pic of the guy banging his head on the comp. in the upper left hand corner?.....That's me.
My question is.....When I recieve pix from people on my email, some of them are visable right after I've downloaded them and others are not! They seem to be stored somewhere or it's like maybe they never got downloaded....I'm still using the same set-up as I had when I first got the comp.(Win.95)and I realize that there are even a lot of the 'basics' that I don't understand so if anyone has a suggestion, fire away. I don't have a sledge hammer, but I do have a friend that has a front loader that will work equally as well on this puppy!!!!

Hi Hal, well if the pictures came by email once, they should still be there unless they were accidentally deleted. If your email client is Outlook express, an email with photos (or anything else attached) should show a small paperclip to the left of the subject line. If your Outlook express is set to show the "preview pane" you can see the email message in a window below the list of email subject lines below a grey divider) all you should have to do is scroll down to the bottom of the message and the photos appear there IF your outlook express it set to show them there...if not, look to the right end of the grey horizontal divider underneith all the email subject lines...there should be a paperclip there, click once on it, you'll see the attachment there where you can open them by clicking on them or save them somewhere else. If you use Netscape Messenger, it works roughly the same way, click once to highlight the subject line of the email you want to see the pictures on, a small grey box appears at the top of the message in the preview pane. If yours is not set to show a preview pane, just double-click the subject line of the email message and you'll see a line showing attachments. Double-click the icons in the attachments box and they'll open. Whether you see a preview pane or not can be set in options, post here again if you want to set that or not and need any help. Usually Outlook Express and Netscape Messenger install with the preview pane visible by default. Also, sometimes people forget to attach their pictures and you get an email without them, they just never sent them.<FONT SIZE=1 COLOR="#8e236b"><p align=CENTER>[This message was edited by Jim Phelps on 11 February 2002 at 07:43 AM.]</p></FONT>

Hi Hal,

When you get an e-mail with attached photos you'll probably have a field in the header of the message that displays the files names, or they may appear as icons at the bottom of the page. If you double click on each of them one at a time it will open the image in the default program, probably Internet Explorer. Then ,with the image in the IE window, just choose - FILE - SAVE AS, and you can save the file in any folder you like; even rename it at the same time so you'll be able to recognize it later by the file name. You can also save a copy of any pic you find in a web page by right-clicking on the image and choosing 'SAVE PICTURE AS'. Then just choose the destination folder and rename the pic if you like.
