Midi port

Post by Allen »

My Dell 4100 with SoundBlasterLive has what they call a "game" port. I believe that this also functions as a "midi" port, although it is a 15 pin D connector. Do any of you know for sure that this can be used as a full midi port? Also is there an adapter to go from the 15P conn. to a standard midi connector?
I want to connect my recorder to the PC in order to update the VS890HD operating syst. and it needs to be done either via midi or a SCSI Zip drive.
Thanks, Allen

The game port is also the "midi" port. You can buy a cable with the 15 pin connector on one end and the round DIN (MIDI) connector on the other. Many Music Stores, some of the larger computer stores and probably Radio Shack have them.

On a related subject, Windows 98 on my Toshiba Satellite claims that the MIDI port is active, but there is no game port on the computer. Is there a way to get MIDI in and out of this laptop? It has a 9 pin serial port and a 25 pin parallel port.
