Post by Janice Brooks »

I just bought a logitech opitical chordless mouse for me and as a gift.
My hope is that I can use it to activate rythem tracks from my desktop while I practicing steel.
Any opinions problems etc ?

The Logitech Cordless series works wonders. They work on different frequencies also, so the keyboard (if you've got one) won't interfere with the mouse. Also the "Optical" mice tend to work better because they don't collect lint and end up having to be cleaned.

Will they work from across the room, say, 15 feet away from the computer? Like Janice, I'd like to use one to turn on/off Band in a Box while I practice steel. But... I guess Janice is also finding that, from that distance, it's hard to read the screen and get your cursor on the right spot anyway, eh?

I just recently "unpluged" my logitech. For some reason it suddenly developed a mind of its own and began activating all kinds of unwanted responses. I put my wired mouse back on and have no problem with it. (The tech info that I have received tells me that the Logitech picked up some extraneous electrical interference from somewhere) When my nerves settle down I'm going to try it again.

I have a Logitech wireless optical mouse and a Logitech corded optical mouse. The wireless one still connects you to the mouse port via a wire (!) and receiver, which now means you have 2 pieces to lose if you travel with it. Also, the cordless mouse is quite a bit larger than the corded model to accomodate the batteries.

To me, there is no big advantage in the cordless model and I greatly prefer the corded one because of size and because it's just one piece. I'm not sure what cordless technology really buys you. The optical technology is great, however - corded or cordless.
[This message was edited by Steve Feldman on 10 December 2001 at 12:11 PM.]
