Stringmaster was the first release of IBM in the late '50's. It takes up roughly the entire floor of a high-rise building, and runs on just a bit less than a megawatt-hour every day. It's powered by 60% of the reserve power of Hoover Dam. And that's just for the monitor. A team of 20 horses is used to rotate the hard-drive, which is roughly the size of a Buick.
Maybe I should have put this one in the "Comedy" section.

Michael, I've worked with IBM Mainframes and the S370 systems were water cooled (memory). I came from a "big iron" environment, including the old IBM 2314 Disk drive which was the size of a clothes washer and had a 20 surface removable disk and it held 2 megabit (not byte) of data.
The "stringmaster" as used in this thread was put there because of some recent events here on the computer section. It was not revelant to the question.

That's why I said I probably should have put that in the humor section. Unfortunately, there's not a "computer humor" section. I would hope that "'59 Stringmaster" would be something in a non-pedal steel guitar by Fender. Unfortunately, there's no voice inflection in typing, so I guess my dry sense of humor didn't come across as well as I wanted it to.
Y'all take it easy now.
