Mike,
I bought and loaded this. It seems to do pretty well.

I don't have much experience with it, but there's a website that advertizes it can protect your identity from online hackers and the like. I don't know exactly what it does to your internet availability (cookies and etcetera), but it came to me as a well-recommended website from a friend of mine who is significantly more "computer savvy" than I am.
www.anonymizer.com

It'll cost you to use it all the time; apparently it's some sort of "remailer" for all of your internet needs. Feel free to read up on it, I haven't had the need to use them on a regular basis yet.

Mike -

Get a copy of Zone Alarm . This is a personal firewall that will stop people from being able to even see your computer, much less access it.

I have a DSL connection and would not dare to turn on the machine without it running.

You'll be amazed how often your machine is scanned while you are on line.

Write if you need more information or I can help.
