What is the speed of the Burner?? If it's more than 1X, check the burning program as it may be set to burn at 1X rather than the speed of the drive.

I know Adaptec (and the newer Roxio) will burn at whatever default speed is set in the software.

Adaptec Easy CD creator 4.02e I can't see any where that it gives the speed that it burns at.

The safest way is to open Easy CD Creater, select Tools-System Tests. Run the tests on all CD and hard drives, then the software will automatically run at the top speed for all your hardware.
