Tape to CD
Got a question guys, I`m sure some of you have done it. How to get cassett or reel to reel music on to a CD ,If I can get cassett to a CD ,I can get Reel to Reel there to as I have a reel to cassett recorder.
Got one more question, anybody know of repair shop for reel to reel recorders, I have an old Teac that needs brake and clutch pads. Please don`t say Midas.
I`m running WIN.ME with a 33x CDR and a Sony
8x/4x/32x multiread CD-RW recorder.
Please advise as to hardware and software.
Thank Ya`ll..........Frank.

The adaptec easy CD creator software comes with a program that will "record" input to the hard drive or direct to a CD.
Use the "line in" jack on your audio card to connect a stereo tape deck, or CD or whatever.
Windows also has a recorder built in.
Do a search, as this question has been covered several times here on the forum.

Try this one.
Or this one.
Here's another.
Last one.
I found these and more by searching on 'cassette' in 'Computers'.

Jack, ARE YOU SURE????The adaptec easy CD creator software comes with a program that will "record" input to the hard drive or direct to a CD.
I've used this program since V2 and have never been able to create a CD from anything other than files -- e.g., WAV or CDA files.
How do you do it without going through a PCM file like the WAV format?

Spin Doctor, in V4 and possibly V5 allows "recording" a song from the line in to either a (wav) file or to a CD. The program takes care of what translation is necessary if you have the CD burner selected as the destination device.
I've done it that way but don't recommend that, as anything that goes wrong with the process and you wind up with a "coaster".
The best way is to "record" the songs to a file, default is a wav file. Then create the audio CD and put the songs in whatever order you want.

I would go with Jack on this one. I record all tunes as wave files , be sure to select the record format 44.1 kz 16 bit stereo which is required for CD conversion. A good wave media recorder will allow the record format selection.
I generally burn from Music Match software
as it is one of the many music programs which allow conversion to and from several formats.
One other minor point, while recording be sure all non essential programs are not running as this will allow your PC resources to be at maximum, whatever that may be. IF you are not sure, re-boot and it will return to max. It's a computor thing.
Good luck
