Cut & Paste files

I hope I explain this OK.
I wish to cut & paste, or copy & paste, or drag, files from one folder to the next.

I can highlight a block of files and move them OK, by clicking on the file, pressing "Shift" & the "Down Arrow" key to highlight the files. Then right click, and click on "Cut" or "Copy". Then paste them into the target file. That's OK, but what if I want to move file 1,2,3 and then skip to file 6,7,8, and then 12,21,30. How can I highlight these files to make one move?

Joe; If you want to highlight certain files for moving etc. hold down the control key and click the files. Also hold down the control key and drag with the right mouse button and let go of it when reaching the destination. A menu will pop up asking what you want to do. Hope this helps.

Joe-- To add to what Ben suggeted, for cut/copy/move file operations think of the SHIFT key as indicating 'contiguous' and the CTRL key specifying 'non-contiguous'. Then consider the COMBINATION of BOTH.

Simple contiguous (select A,B,C) - use the SHIFT key. Simple non-contiguous (select F,H,J) - use the CTRL key.

But if you have A,B,C selected and you ALSO want J,K,L,M hold down the CTRL key while selecting J and with BOTH the CTRL and SHIFT keys down, select M.
