People Search"-anyone had luck using them

Post by Larry Lenhart »

I am not sure this is an appropriate place to ask this question, but I know that you guys are very helpfull. I am looking for a friend from my Air Force days in the 70s. I know there are alot of people search engines out there-both ones which are free and those that require payments. I dont mind spending the money to find him, would just like to have your input on anything that has worked for you. I know very little about my friend actually-his name is very very common, I know the state he grew up in, his approximate age, where he graduated from college (I have tried the alumni association with no luck) and my last known address for him. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If by chance you have a social security number, you could run a credit check and bingo. Personally I have some ethical problems with that.
Here's where I'd start. If you have a middle initial, that can sometimes help find folks with common names. Try these web sites, get it down to a reasonable number of possibilities, then mail all of them to see if you got the right one.
Another way is to look for people where he grew up with the same last name and call or mail them for information. All these web sites are listed on www.hotsheet.com

I've had good luck with the free people searches. www.freeality.com has a section for people search and links to at least a dozen different people search sites from there. It's handy because you can use them all from that one spot. Also try www.classmates.com. I think it's specialty is high school and military. It requires the person to register their name, but it's been around a while. Maybe you'll get lucky and find your friend or someone he went to school with. Maybe even a relative. Good luck.
