My printer has quit printing yellow. I put in a new tri-color cartridge but no help. I went through the HP trouble shooting section and tried everything they suggested and still no yellows[ which also means no browns, etc.] Can anyone HELP!!!

Thanks, Ben Jack

There is a printed circuit contact area that the ink cartridge "connects" to. Make sure that area is clean, as a poor or no contact could cause one or more colors not to work.

If it's not the cartridge and not the cartridge electronic connection, there's not much left other than internal.

Here is the test procedure for my 882C Deskjet. It may work for other HP printers. These are "local" internal printer tests.

Run a sample page
Turn the printer on.
Press and hold press the RESUME button until the printer starts printing.
Release the RESUME button.

To run a diagnostic test
Turn the printer on.
Press and hold the POWER button.
Press the RESUME button four times.
Release the POWER button.

The sad part is, if it's out of warranty you are better off buying a new printer than trying to have it fixed (if you can even find someone to work on it). If HP would even fix it, by the time you paid shipping both ways and the basic service charge plus parts it's probably more than a new printer.
