Friday the 27th I received an e mail with the Love Letter Virus. I was lucky as I always store my work from all my programs (Money, Spreedsheet etc) on floppys but I had to start all over with my Compaq Quick Restore disk plus i'm still relaoding my other programs so I better get with it.

Well, don't stop there, Bob! Tell us more!
What did this virus look like when it arrived in your mail box? Was it entitled "Love Letter" or what? Was there an attachment, or just opening the email caused the infection? Details, please! |

As desperate as I am, I need more info' so I don't end up getting the virus instead of something that will last me a lifetime. |

If you are running any halfway current anti-virus software you should be protected. The love letter stuff is a variation of the Melissa Virus which all the anti-virus software handles.
Most copies I have seen say something like I Love You.vbs. There is also a variation called Stages of Life which is also the same thing (more or less).
Get and use any good anti-virus product.

Computer Associates offers their "InnoculateIT Personal Edition" antivirus software as a free download at their Website.
I think it the URL is:
http://www.cai.com
That should get you close, anyway. This is the same outfit that provides the AV software for the coorporation I work for, so they should be reliable for some time to come.
Take care,
Les
