What is the string spacing at bridge and nut for these guitars ? Anyone know ?
The ebay page didn't want to load any pictures other than a reddish brown image of the bridge area which looks really nice, and at the bottom a view of a blonde headstock . The page took forever to load on my webtv for some reason . Could be the MSN server , not sure.
Ricky D.'s new D-8 Georgeboard is 11/32 at the nut, and 3/8 (12/32) at the bridge.
I have a guitar with that same spacing, and it's really comfortable when compared to guitars with the smaller 5/16 (10/32) spacing at the nut. it's amazing what a difference 1/32 of an inch between each string can make. The guitar still keeps a nice taper, and bar work is definitely easier (IMHO).
Georgeboards are some of the most beautiful steel guitars out there. How 'bout that fretboard! I can't wait to hear and see one "live"...
Of course I cannot speak for George; But I know that he has cut those "roller" bridges and nuts to both the rather standard narrower 8-string spacing AND the wider spacing most non-pedal folks seem to prefer; And those rollers lift right out of their wood bosses so are interchangeable; Which means George will probably have which string spacing you prefer and can pop it right in there for you.
You can see here that previous GB's bridge / string-root bosses load from the back and not through the body; But I can tell you that that wood boss communicates the body's sound / resonance / sustain VERY well. I assume the ones on eBay use that same rear-loading boss.
The reason George's internet postings load slow and not at all on some computers is probably because he uses the Flash program for allot of his internet postings, which some computers don't have, while other computers with low RAM / HD space have problems with, and some folks refuse to use due to the extreme spyware nature of the Flash program, although I know George doesn't and wouldn't use Flash nefariously.
George and his Boards are top shelf.

George , thanks for posting the information on the string loading and spacing and guitar weight. I'm home nursing a bad disk problem this month so the weight factor is an issue. Don't know why my post appeared twice about the weight.
Is the guitar already routed to accept leg sockets if the customers wants to add them ?
I went to the high speed computer at the library to see if the pictures on your auction page would load but no luck.

Denny Turner , thank you for posting this topic on the forum and making me aware of this auction . I'm really looking forward to playing this beautiful guitar. Also thanks to Steinar and Ricky for your comments and to George for patiently responding to all my questions.
Well yer welcome George Piburn; It's certainly my pleasure, although a bit selfish. You see, ...knowing a bit about what heart and excellence you put into your Necks, and their exceptional value, ....and then getting to read the reports here on the SGF from folks when they acquire and play them; It's kinda like a nice after-glow. Gotta Love it !

And Kevin, you go slow when you're opening up that exceptional packaging. And caress that baby real good and slow takin' it out, ....lest you mess up yer trousers before you even get a chance to play it ! By the way, which one did you get? (I had to get rid of the link before the 2 auctions closed, 'cause the B.I.N. was causin' my mouse to jones ....and if I'd'a bought one of them Boards Mama woulda slept on the couch fer 2 weeks and fussed like a hog on slop 'til she could get to Wal-Mart this weekend!)
