Clone Theory

Post by Kenny Dail »

Does anyone know if The Electro~Harmonix unit called "Clone Theory" is still on the market? I am interested in checking this unit out. What does it do, delay, reverb, chorus and/or combinations etc...??? What is considered a "fair" price for a used unit in good working condition?

It was an early chorus/doubler unit. Sounded pretty fair, when you could distinguish it above the noise floor of the unit.

I had one which I went out and bought after seeing Steve Smith (to the best of my recollection it was Steve) use one real effectively in Toronto - late 70's or 1980 - can't remember. Mine got wrecked, along with a bunch of other stuff, when a moving van drove into a ditch full of water... It was a cool unit, but like a lot of that stuff there was a problem with extraneous noise. Seems to me that the desired effect might better be achieved digitally these days.I know that there are now reissues of some of the old EH effects like the "Small Stone", so maybe you can find a new one.

I had one of those back in the mid 1970's. It ran off of AC power. It sounded real nice, but it was real noisy. I mean REAL noisy.
