Whats a good delay?

I am in need of a new delay and just wanted some input on the newest ones out.I would like to have a good one without spending a kings ransom.

Seriously, the Lexicon MPX-100 is an awesome digital reverb/echo unit and it is very inexpensive. Even cheaper is the Danelectro echo, which sounds just like an echoplex.

Without spending a kinds ransom, I'd recommend a Boss DD-3. New ~$150 (?) but plenty on the used market also for probably <$100. It works great, IMO.

I've noticed on this post and others that many people like the DD-3 delay pedal. What about the DD-5? Is it much different? In what ways?

The DD5 has a optional tap feature. Its very helpful for quickly adjusting the tepmo of the repeats to match the tempo of the song.

Check out the Line6 DL4.

I've owned the Boss RV-3, Lexicon MPX100,
and others. The DL4 is by far the coolest
delay out there, if you're after more than
digital delay. The DL4 offers excellent
simulations of Echoplexs, Roland Space
Echo, BOSS analog delay, Electro Harmonix
etc and to top it off it does looping and
backwards delays (takes your input and
plays it backwards - if you've heard the
guitar solo on the Beatles "Strawberry
Fields Forever" you'll know what I'm referring to).

Thanks guys for all the input . It gives me some good ones to choose from. The line6 sounds very interesting. I know it models analog delays. Has anyone out there used the analog delays? I here they are really warm sounding.I wish I had a music store close so I could compare some of the models yall have mentioned. Ill check back in later. Remember boys I am counting on you to steer me right.

I recommend the Line 6...it has a lot of bang for the buck.

Ditto on the Line6 DL4. The delays sound great, and there are three presets you can program (wish there were more!). Very well
built (heavy), true bypass (pedal doesn't color the sound when off like most do). I bought mine from 8th Street Music (mailorder) for a little less than you can buy one at Musician's Friend, but the later has a 45-day trial period, full money-back if not satisfied, so that's something to consider.

are you sure they made a good one after the Echo-Plex if so they must be hard to find

I have used just about every type of delay and sold most of them in my music store. Personally, I like the recently re-issued model by Ibanez. Model AD99 Analog Delay. To me, it is not harsh and crisp as the digital units. Works for me. Just goes to show you that is why there are so many "brands" of automobiles and just about everything else.

Well, guess what.....Now, we have the Lexicon MPX-500......Supposed to do all sorts of things!!(except make us better players!)...Just like computers, always something "newer or better"...When will it end?....Once again,..good hand tech. and foot coordination, will make your signature "TONE".....Stop looking for an "effect" and start using your skills....IMHO.....
