Oh....sorry....no steel player in the band. Image

The music was great. Roger and Pete were fantastic. Ringo's kid played drums pretty darn good!

Go see them if you can ... you won't be disappointed.

I saw them at Madison Sq Garden a week and a half ago, and I agree, they were excellent, a few friends of mine saw that show and one at the Garden State Arts Center, and they said it was even better than the Garden show. Pete and Roger still have it and Zak Starkey is great on drums.

...wish you could have made this show, or any others The Who have done the last few years, well hurry on over to www.themusic.com/encore/thewho2006/ and you're there!

I'd give anything to relive the second night of their '73 N. American Quadraphenia Tour, even in the nose bleed LA Forum seat I had, as it certainly was one of their finest moments, which was strange coming off the infamous 'Moonout' gig in Frisco where an audience member was recruited to finish the gig after Moonie fell 'ill'.
Guess he needed to get some rest so he could kick ass in LA!

Russ, is Pino on bass this tour?

For some reason I was not into the Who first time around. I bought a book about them at a yardsale for "fiddy cent" and read it. Did some youtube and google searches and listened to their music and developed a better appreciation for them. They were probably the first sort of punk band. Got to admit that Townsend was quite a writer. Moon was one of a kind also.

He was replaced.

Kenny Jones, Keith Moon's replacement, was replaced by Simon Phillips in 1989 for The Who's 25th anniversary tour.

Wasn't Townsend arrested on child porn? I wouldn't go see them at any price.

Jon, Some hip hop/pop band opened at the Garden Show, didn't get their name nor could I understand anything they sang.

Zack Starkey (Ringo's son, who was a huge Moon Fan) has been with them for over ten years, Pino was on bass and Simon Townshend on guitar also, and keyboard player was something 'Rabbit'?? a regular side man for them.

As far as Pete Child Porn thing, last I heard was that he was writing something about that and had checked a few sights to know more about it. I don't know anything more than that, It just depends on whom you believe.

Who you believe? He was apparently charged in 1999 also. I wouldn't have anything to do with them. Abhorent.

I agree Kevin that child porn is an unforgivable offense. However, he was investigated by the police and cleared the article states.

The post was just my input of a great concert. Others can go or not.

Before I would judge Pete Townsend's private life in order to decide if I should or should not go hear his music, I would want to evaluate my own life to see if I was indeed perfect enough to make such a judgement.

Bill, have you been brought up on child porn charges? I haven't. This is just one more twisted incident in Townsends weird journey. I know whats right and what isn't. Some things need to be judged for the good of society. Thats the job of good citizens. As far as being perfect where children are concerned, I'm immaculate. We have seveteen children in our immediate family and they are watched over and protected from the scum in our society. There is no gray area as far as children are concerned. The Who can take their music and shove it.
[This message was edited by Kevin Hatton on 02 October 2006 at 03:05 PM.]

Indeed. That's why we have a judicial system to take care of these things. The charges against Townshend were thoroughly investigated and he was cleared. If you have any further information that didn't come up in the case against him then I suggest you hand them over to Scotland Yard so they can follow it up.

Now, back to the music.. Russ,- did they perform songs from the new album? How did they hold up against the old material? I've read some very good stuff about their new album but haven't heard anything yet.

Stiener,

They played quite a bit of new material and it sounded very good. I had not seen The Who before and didn't expect them to be as good as they were. I wasn't disapointed.
