On my way back from California I thought I'd stop by Nashville for a couple a days to check out the Time Jumpers and the Tuesday night Opry! Wrong! My wife and I went to lower Broadway in the afternoon and heard some great young singers at Tootsie's and the Legend's Corner. Around 7:15 PM we went to the Station Inn to see the Time Jumpers in action. We paid our $15 each and I found a table which was near the door as my wife went to order a pizza. While setting there a guy came in and said to the lady at the door, "Bluegrass Tonight?" to which she answered "Yes". I asked her about the Time Jumpers and she said they were usually there on Mondays but the IBMA awards were in town that week and they were having bluegrass music. I ran up to my wife at the counter and said "Cancel that Order". Luckily, the place refunded our cover charge and we left. I thought, oh well, we'll see the Opry tommorrow night so we went to get something to eat. While driving down the street and listening to WSM the DJ said "Remember folks, don't forget the Tuesday Night Opry tommorrow and our 'Big Bluegrass Show'.........He proceeded to name the acts which were top bluegrassers but living in Virginia I can hear some great bluegrass any time I want. When I go to the Opry I wanna hear Porter Waggoner, Tater, Jack Greene, and acts like that. Also I wanted to check out the staff band, especially Tommy White. Oh well, maybe in another 10 years or so I might get back down there. I knew a couple of guys there but unfortunately had left my book at home so I had no phone numbers with me..........Have a good 'un, JH in Va.
