I think a lot gets lost in those low quality .ra files. It's a real steel friendly tune, and to tell you the truth it brings the Balls Out Don West version to mind, though few save Donny, Bobbe, and others of that East Coast persuasion might have heard it. Don played it behind a lady named Mary Burgess, whose husband pointed guns at both of us at different times for different fairly innocent reasons..
I'll be playing it this weekend after BEGGING the young femvoc I work with to to it. I had to agree to do two STUPID Shania songs in exchange.
You know, I think the only steel player I can tell without fail is BC, and I never mean any disrespect by confusing Mr's Hughey, Rugg, Myrick, or for that matter Mr E.
I'll be doing good if I ever get to play half the songs they did as cover tunes. I always think enough of them to go get the original and at least try to get a feel of the stuff they played on them.
For some reason lately with his personal battles, and strength of character thereby, Hal Rugg and his music has been on my mind.
Meeting Mr Hughey lately was a real thrill for me, and watching him play chords faster than I can play single notes..
Bless their hearts, fingers, and their whole bodies for that matter.
Especially their playing.
