What song should have had steel but didn't

Can you think of a song that was just made for steel guitar but didn't have one it it? Bridge over troubled waters comes to mind. I don't think it had steel.

I'm trying to write steel parts right now for 'Big Iron' by Marty Robbins. Great tune for steelin'

I agree with Craig about "Against the Wind" I worked in a trio playing both lead and steel and had the option to use whichever I saw fit for each tune. We did that one with the steel guitar. Another great Bob Segar tune for steel is "Turn the Page"..You can really get expressive with that one. Another I like to do on steel is the Eagles "New Kid in Town"...have a good 'un, JH

I am at the moment enjoying Dicky Overby's version of Yesterdays.
But there are tons of obscure but great Beatles tunes that would work too.

The last tune I did with my NYC bluegrass band was,

"Bad Timing" by Blue Rodeo. Seems odd that there is no steel in this one considering that they have a full time steel player in the band.

Wow some great suggestions here. Anything the Beatles did would sound great with steel. Also Bob Seiger stuff. Maybe someday those songs will get recorded on steel. Can't buy me love would be a good one.

Yep, the Suite Steel duet of Yesterday by Buddy Emmons and Sneaky Pete is burned into my brain more than the original Beatles tune.
