Cheap lap steel stand.

Post by Bill Hatcher »

I found somthing today in a thrift store that can be made into a stand for a lap steel guitar. A walker!! These are used by mobile challenged folks to aid in getting around. They are lightweight aluminim, they fold up and are strong as the dickens. Cost me $1 and with a little modification can be made to hold a lap steel.

I take that as a compliment Howard.

In all my junk store ramblings I never gave these a second look until today and all I saw was a steel guitar sitting on it!! Never mind your grandma behind it!

These things are over $100 new and are adjustable in leg length and fold up for storage. Lightweight aluminum construction. There are so many different models that you might even find one that you could use to play standing. Mine has two groovy pieces of chrome on the front!! Some fuzzy dice and a drink holder will really set it off. Plenty easy to find at Goodwill and other thrift stores.

Please do Bill. I love when a light bulb goes off in one's mind and something innovative is the result.

Not only is the walker a great idea for a lap steel, but an investment for the future.! Image
[This message was edited by HowardR on 20 October 2003 at 04:16 PM.]
