Someone posted a link about Run C&W, and it reminded me of something I heard the other day. Pink Floyd's "The Wall" performed by a country band called Luther Wright and the Wrongs. It's amazing how well some songs lend themselves to countrification!

There is a band called "Hayseed Dixie" they did an album on AC/DC covers. It is some smokin' bluegrass playing. There name is pretty funny...get it...Hayseed Dixie - AC/DC

A semi-bluegrass band called the Austin Lounge Lizards did Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" a few years ago, it was GREAT!

Gotta love those Lizards including their satires on Newt Gingrich, Richerd Petty, George Jones, Leonard Cohan and Hank Williams car.

I was in a bluegrass band that always closed the show with a version of "Jumpin' Jack Flash", really really fast with high harmonies and banjo solos. It got a good reaction.

Now I can't get it out of my head: "Wit's awwwwwlll rahhhht neeeyowwwwww...."

When I saw this thread it reminded me, a few weeks ago while watching a TV commercial, I came up with the idea that "Del McCory Sings Foreigner" would be a great project. Seriously, can't you just hear Feels Like The First Time in a medium tempo bluegrass feel and I Wanna Know Where Love Is as a high lonesome ballad?

One of the bands I play banjo with we do a few songs by the Police - Every Breath You Take, Don't Stand So Close,Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic, and Message In A Bottle. We Called it our "Cops on Grass" set.

Back in the mid-1980's, Asleep at the Wheel had a swing version of Huey Lewis's "I Want a New Drug." I think both were out around the same time and if I remember correctly, Huey Lewis produced The Wheel version.

The bridge in "Every Breath You Take" has the same chords as the bridge in "Your Cheatin' Heart". We all knew Sting was a country boy at heart.

Last week I heard a rootsy country version of the Stooges proto-punk classic "I Wanna Be Your Dog." Sadly I missed the name of the act, it was pretty good.
