Cal Smith, a.k.a. Calvin Schoffner. Yes, Cal's still kickin'. I backed him on a few shows 2-3 years ago. He may still travel occasionally. I'm thinking of what would be the easiest way to get in touch with him. Don't know if he has a fan club. Cal's a super nice guy, with a booming baritone voice that's smooth as a pound of butter. I had the pleasure of backing him several times, and he was one of the few stars I played behind who was completely void of pretense and ego. He singing was laid-back and effortless, and so was his personality. Wish there were more like him.

Both Buddys, Cal, Jack Green, Leon...ol E.T. could really pick 'em, could't he?
