chords

Post by Joe Delaronde »

Is there a site which has songs showing the chords. I want to enter some "oldie" songs into BIAB, but don't know some of the chords.
Songs like Whispering, Charmaine, Always, 4 in the morning, etc.
I've searched the web and all the sites want me to buy books and books of music. All I want are the chords.....Thanks Joe

Many of the Cowpie songs have the chords to them. The chords are the uplinker's own interpretation but is usually close if not right on. There was another site that had a lot of standards but the last time I tried to get into it, it was no longer available.

Here's the link to cowpie http://www.roughstock.com/cowpie/

Jack, I was at Roughstock, but the site requires me to enter the artist's name and song title. Most of the songs I am looking for are before my time, I think, and I don't know who wrote or sang them. Also, most of the somgs are not "country", but more modern or pop from the 20s,30s,40s,& 50's.

I'm making a tape for my mother and relatives in a seniors home. The chords Biab uses are too Jazzy for my ears and theirs. I know how to change the chords in Biab, but would prefer to enter them from music sheets that are not Jazzed up.

I'm learning Biab and it sure makes beautifull music. The bassman and guitar players are "right on", but I have to slap the drummer now and then.

Have you checked the local library? They may have some sheet music you can copy or even a fake book that you can check out/copy.

Joe.....

I noticed you are using BIAB to do your work.
You can change the "STYLE" of a song in BIAB. Not only will it change the style, but also will re-phrase the song according to the style you pick. like latin,country,4/4,somba,smooth, and a lot of other different bats.

Just enter the chords and let the software do the hard work on them.

There's also a setting in BIAB to disallow any substitutions on chords, so when you say D7, you get D7, not D9, D13, etc.

I don't know if this helps, but...
The chords for Whispering are the same as the chords for Dizzy Gillispie's "Groovin' High" and very close to the A part of "Meditation".
"Always" was an Irving Berlin tune.
If you're really stuck, you could always post an inquiry right here for specific tunes. There's lots of help here.

Sounds like you need a good "fake book". There are a lot of them on the market, and they're not cheap. But, when you consider you're getting words, melody line, and chords for several hundred songs, they're quite a bargain! Some "Ultimate Fake Books" have 500 songs...mostly "pop stuff". Right up your alley!
