B0B,
I think Donny pointed that remark at me. If so, he is wrong about me! I advocate learning "everything" while keeping their eyes on the road. That's real hard for some to understand and is the only way to move forward.

I translate this to mean, "explore and grow all you want to or need to, but don't forget your roots.

I couldn't agree more. I've been playing different types of music professionally for 32 years. My roots are in Western Swing (Bob Wills) and Country music of the 60's 70's era. It would be nice to play old Ray Price, George Jones, etc. all night long but times have changed, music is forever changing, and in my opinion, I have to be open to some change if I want to continue working. Every so often I can still throw in an old standard country song to satisfy myself and the older crowd and at the same time, be satisfied that I'm always trying something different. There is a lot of good music out there and there is some that is not so good.
[This message was edited by Ric Epperle on 26 September 2000 at 03:37 PM.]
