Napster Anyone?

Don't you think that the big companies will get in on electronic distribution...sooner or later? And when they do, and no longer have to pay to market "hard media", do you think that the artists will get a larger share?

The recording companies now cry that the PPDA..."pressing, printing, distribution, and advertising" costs are what limit the artists profit, and cause the high selling prices. Do you really think that they'll save millions, and then refuse to "share the wealth?"

You bet your bippy they will!

According to some of the big boys here in Nashburg, They got paid when they turned in the song to the (You pick your group here). A lot of writers just sit in a cubicle and crank out poems that could possible be made into songs. They do this all day. No wonder most of what we hear today is junk.

Now, Lets add the session player in here too. How is he or she going to get compensated?

According to same ole big boys, "They got paid when they did the session" Why do they want any more? I paid him Union scale for 3 hours of his/her time.

The big houses don't care about the writers, pickers, or the less than total star singers. If you get a small royalty check for your effort later own, count your-self lucky.

That just how the business is..... Just another reason why "Napster" won't go away.

Most consumers also feel that the Artist,writers,pickers done got their money up front so they don't feel any remorse about tapeing a song from the radio or getting it off the net.

Funny what you said about a bunch of folks being put in this room for who knows [or cares] UMTEEN hours to actually produce art.
What a laff.
But, ironically, this same event occurred way back in the 50's and 60's, and lest I emphasize, with very different results.
This all took place in NYC in the Brill Building.
Stoler & Lieberman, Burt Bacharach, Carol King, just to mention a few, actually were sat down to create great music. Which I'm sure most here will agree, they achieved.
The only difference was that they were "hired", not because they were necessarily formula hacks, but because they had a brilliant and daring creativity and were ceretainly encouraged to put it to good use.
You had to come up with something really different/novel. The idea was to REALLY distinguish yourself; PLEASE!!! Don't sound like everybody else.

Let's face it. When any 2 people agree
on anything, 100%;.........WELL!?!.......

One of them isn't necessary.
