Happiest Country Song?

Post by frank rogers »

There's no way this thread will match "saddest country song", but throw in your two cents worth. How about Kenny Price's "Happy Tracks"?

How about "I feel better all over" by Ferlin Huskey or "Livin' in a house of love" by David Houston?

"Happy Heart" sung by Susan Rae (a friend of mine wrote it); "Pretty World Today" from Wynn Stewart; and maybe the perenial favorite "Ragged But Right".

It's a skipity-do-da-day, how 'bout Happiest Girl (In The Whole USA) - Donna Fargo. I think this one sits at the top. Image

As a singer and writer, Paul Overstreet gave us many happy/love type songs. He's got to be one of the all-time leading writers in Nashville for units sold. I bet that puts a Image on his face.

If "happiest" means the one that makes me smile the most, it might be George Jone's "The One I Loved Back Then (Corvette Song).

Do we need a 'most politically incorrect song' catagory?

I think my pick would be "That's My Pa", by Sheb Wooley. Almost half of the song is his crazy hillbilly laugh! It was a chart record from around 1964...that only a fool like me would remember. Image

No-one puts a smile on my face like Buck
Owens! "Happy days are here again" must
be one of the happiest songs EVER.. some
cool steel licks from Tom Brumley as well.

I think 'happiest girl in the USA' gets the award for the saddest excuse for a country song.
