There are a lot of great pickers that play at the Opry every weekend. I assume those players get fairly comfortable with the system.
Most of the new artists and their bands appear only once or twice a year.
A band gets 60 seconds or less from the time the previous act finishes, to walk out, plug in,(to someone elses rig) and start pickin'.
I know that a lot of people do it without a problem. But it is the Grand Ol' Opry and I have had many people tell me that they frequently get nervous on that stage.
I think I've felt that way myself at least a couple of times.

When she sang on the second show she did remarkably better. Sometimes you can't get back on pitch to save your life, once get started so far off....she truly can sing better than what she did on the first show...and she does look good....anyone know what brand of britches she had on....my wife wants me to get a pair....she said I'd look better than those cut offs I'm always in....Pat

When she started singing I couldn't believe my ears, she was pretty far out but then I listened to the song a little more and it's not an easy one to sing. It's her new single I think and maybe she hasn't learned it that well yet. I've heard ol' Porter W. sing flat and sharp in one line of a song he's been singing for 40 years so compared to that, sweet Danni did great. I love that psuedo cow girl look! It really makes my organs palpitate! Finally, give her a break and wait until the next time you hear her sing it.

I didn't get to see the Opry Saturday night so I can't really give my opinion about her performance. But I can say that I've seen her in person at the Opry and another time on the TV portion and I have bought her CD. She did a great job live and on TV the last time as well. Her CD is one of the best country CD's in my collection and the steel playing by Steve Hinson is GREAT!!!! I would venture to guess that unless something has went drastically wrong with Danni that if you gave her another listen, on another night, you might see that she's not all that bad. I know there are a lot of professional steel players on this forum who rarely make a blunder on stage but can any of you think back to a particular night when you couldn't play sh!t without getting it all over you? ......Nah....me neither.

Thank ye'uns for the kind words and all...that was an extremely fun record to make, and the new one was too!Everyone involved with the first one had high hopes, and the label closed its doors the day after the second single was released!Maybe this new album will fly...Danni Leigh is a really nice girl and very talented-please don't judge her by what happened Saturday night-as I said before-I've heard worse...by people with hit records out.Steve
