Cousin" Jody -Lonzo & Oscar
I was watchin' one of the Gannaway shows tonight to remember June Carter as a pretty young thing.
Also on the bill were Lonzo and Oscar with "Cousin" Jody on steel and another episode with another steelin' "Cousin" (who's name escapes me at the moment, but he was a bulkier guy than Jody.)
so the question is: what were the "Cousins" real names and what do you know 'bout them??

Was Cousin Jody the one without the teeth? I know there was one on the Opry that played a single neck Gibson (like I used to have), electrified and not a dobro, hung around his neck. Just a small, solid-bodied Gibson. He used to do a lot of backward slides on it while he bowed his legs for effect.

Butch: When Eddie Arnold left Pee Wee's band in about 1941 he took Roy Wiggins and Speedy McNatt (Fiddle player) with him. I don't know how long Wiggins played with the Golden West Cowboys. I think Clel preceeded Wiggins, but I'm not sure. That was about 5 or 6 years before my time, and all I know is what Pee Wee told me. I do know that Don Davis preceeded me with the band.
Erv: Yep. Cousin Jody was the one with no teeth. And you are right about the Gibson lap steel hung from a strap around his neck.
[This message was edited by Roy Ayres on 23 May 2003 at 03:25 PM.]
