Play "Misty" for me...
I was merely wondering if someone here ever worked out an arrangement (e9th) for Errol Garners Classic "Misty"?
It is a very beautyful song most suitable for pedal steel.
I am trying to learn it but i am hitting the wall everytime i try to play it.
Here is a midi file i found <a href="http://members.xoom.com/midimore/misty/ ... Misty by Errol Garner
Note:this is just one midi version i found out there.

Great,
Thanks for replying and the info Mr Jay Dee Maness (i`m not worthy!)
Sure would be interesting to hear you play your
version of Misty, what key you are in e.t.c...
i thought i was the only one thinking of it as a great steel instrumental since i never heard anyone do it
(Thankful for all the tips and tricks i can get,
"sitting here alone in front of 10 strings
3 footpedals and 4 kneelevers in Sweden,
and not a soul to ask what to do with it all
")

Hey Anders; Again I'm sorry we won't be coming to Sweden again this year. I would love to help you in anything I could possibly help with. I Don't know the song Misty; but I have heard it played by several of my colleages. E-mail me any questions or ideas or tab about anything you need or want; and If I know it, I will be way glad to help.
Jay Dee; When will you; "The Master"; have a CD out? I would be your first costumer and would be more than willing to pay double the amount price!!!
I think the world of your playing. Also Jay Dee; I'll be out that way again with Dale Watson, in Dec., and would be honored if we are in your area; if you would come up and play some steel with me. I always have a pedal and no-pedal set up to play at the gigs>"you choose.

Hey Anders,
First of all, I feel a little precocious doing this following a post by Jay Dee, who imho made that cut of Ray's a hit with his wonderful steel playing... (seriously)
But, I'm a die hard Erroll Garner freak, so I feel obligated.
Garner wrote the tune in Eb, as an instrumental ballad. Real gooey. Johnny Mathis had a big hit with it after words were added (Mathis loved singing Garner's compositions, btw).
I have never spent much time playing gooey stuff on E9, and would never hope to cop Jay Dee's stuff, but I tossed this around tonight for a few minutes, so here's the deal: (drum roll) Here's the pickup and 4 or 5 bars... for a nominal contribution to b0b's Steel Guitar Forum at your own discretion, I'll tab out the rest. (including a very hip turnaround I stumbled across during a blackout tonight
)
Is that a deal, or what ?

Hey John Steele,
It's 12:30 in the AM and have come across your first few bars of Misty. It great!!!
I hope you will you posting the rest of it here on the forum soon.
The PSG is absolutley fascinating to me. How you guys hear this stuff and put it down on paper is beyond me.
Thank goodness for tab and a little talent that I can at least play it.
Thanks guy,
Rich
