backup tracks resources
Hello out there,
I would like to get a few b/u tracks where the key of a song can be changed easily.
Anyone out there is aware of something like that with sources to recomment?
Thanks!

Re: backup tracks resorces
I would use something like Band in a box or IRealPro. Just enter in the chord progression and then you can transpose it to any key
Mullen G2 D10 9x9
ETS S10 3x5
MSA D12 Superslide
Benoit 8 String Dobro
ETS S10 3x5
MSA D12 Superslide
Benoit 8 String Dobro

There's a lot of Karaoke tracks on Youtube, I've also bought a lot of tracks from Karaoke Channel, and I just recently subscribed to the Jamzone app that has a LOT of tracks available.

MSA Millennium, Legend, and Studio Pro, Reese's restored Universal Direction guitar, a restored MSA Classic SS, several amps, new and old, and a Kemper Powerhead that I am really liking. Also a Zum D10, a Mullen RP, and a restored Rose S10, named the "Blue Bird". Also, I have acquired and restored the plexiglass D10 MSA Classic that was built as a demo in the early '70s. I also have a '74 lacquer P/P, with wood necks, and a showroom condition Sho-Bud Super Pro.

Re: backup tracks resources
Years back I bought band in a box which was ways to complex to handle.
I will have a closer look into iRealPro; perhaps it's easier and faster to use.

Hi Detlef X minus pro. You have to register. It's free. You search for your song. Download. it gives the option to change key and tempo. Also has a free vocal removal tool that can split drum, bass, guitar on to separate stems. Have ago some very good productions. Used it on a few of my tracks. Brother can you spare a dime was a big band version. Check it out. Dave

I have been using software such as Moises or SongMaster Pro to remove the vocals and then use as backing tracks. Works pretty well and you are playing along to the real recording!

Someone here on the Forum gave me an OLD version of BIAB maybe 15+ years ago. (no idea what happened to it) Like you I found it over my head and gave up on it. I just do NOT know enough about music symbols or notation or dotted quarter notes and the like.Detlef Webert wrote: 16 Nov 2025 3:07 am Years back I bought band in a box which was ways to complex to handle.

Fast forward to maybe 7-8 years ago, and Wally Moyers recommended iRealPro for about 20 bucks. My plan was to make my own tracks, but still didn't know how I'd go about that. But with iReal, I could get several version of many songs and with that as a template, I could edit in chord progressions as I heard them, by just replacing what was there. STILL a lot of trial and error but having a template to start out with and hearing how that played was a HUGE benefit to me. iReals instruments are NOT the best, but usable and you can change keys and timing and tempo and styles with just a click. Mind you its more geared to Jazz type music, but there are literally thousands of songs that are already charted out and available free of charge to use with iReal.
What started getting me a bit adventurous was me wanting a track for the old gospel song What A Friend We Have In Jesus, I'd already done a Country version of this years earlier but wanted to Jazz it up a bit. There was 1 version of that in iReal and it was pretty plane Jane. BUT the template was there for me to massage, so I added the chords that I wanted, brought each instrument into Studio One, slowed the tempo down (Way too much) and then ramped it up and slowed it down at the end. Something you can't do on the iReal platform itself but you can once its in your DAW. This is an example and my FIRST effort at doing anything like this, but can maybe give you an idea of what even a dummy can get out of iReal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pT7RXbNk2Y
I would download each instrument separately into my DAW and then mix to taste with reverb and compression and balance as I wanted. If I wanted to add rhythm guitars to the standard Drums/Bass/Piano, then I would look at other song styles that maybe had one. They would give options of Jazz or Nylon guitar or others and I'd maybe download 2-3 different ones into my DAW.
Long story, SORRY ... then in 2024, wanting better instruments (REAL ONES) and the ability to had horns or strings if I wanted I bought BIAB. iReal had been a great training ground for me to now not be so overwhelmed with this pretty sophisticated program as I had been 15 years ago. So now BIAB is my go to for anything I want to play to. I just put in the chords I want and the style, Country/Jazz/Bossa/Latin and away I go. I even went back to songs I'd put on YouTube using iReal and made new tracks for them in BIAB so that I could remix everything and then put the "Better" recordings on CD. That was its own experience LOL.
Anyhow, iReal is a great place to start for very little money and an already expansive library of songs available to use as is or alter to what you want.

Won't have every song you want, but has a heck of a lot, and it's very flexible as to which instruments you hear, how they are blended, and it lets you adjust the key. Only wish it would let you adjust the tempo. I use a separate audio editing program for that when necessary (which is not too often).
